What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how PetVoice handles information when you use the PetVoice mobile application and related web pages. PetVoice is an informational pet-sound companion and is not a veterinary diagnostic service.
Information we collect
Account data: email address, your chosen display name, your optional avatar thumbnail, and authentication identifiers provided by Firebase Authentication or Google Sign-In. Pet data: pet name, species, breed, age, weight, photo, and details you choose to enter. Recognition data: timestamp, selected context, approximate insight, signal quality, and care suggestions. Device data: basic app and device information needed to secure and troubleshoot the service.
Microphone and audio
PetVoice requests microphone access only when you start listening. Recordings stay on your device by default; local context cues use duration, sound level, and your selected context, not waveform classification. On Android, if you explicitly enable Gemini AI review for an individual clip, that audio clip, pet species, and selected context are sent through Firebase AI Logic to Google's Gemini Developer API for transient sound analysis. This option is off again for the next recording. The free Gemini tier may use submitted content to improve Google's products, as described by Google's API terms and privacy information. Do not include human conversations or sensitive speech. PetVoice does not store raw audio in Firestore or sync its device path; Google may process submitted data under its own policies. No feature translates animal language or provides veterinary diagnosis.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate you, sync your pet profiles and recognition history across devices, provide sound insights, improve reliability, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, and comply with law. We do not sell personal information and PetVoice does not use pet recordings for advertising.
Service providers
Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, provided by Google, are used for sign-in and cloud synchronization. Optional Gemini AI review uses Firebase AI Logic and Google's Gemini Developer API, including App Check/Play Integrity for abuse prevention. Google's free API tier may use submitted audio to improve its products. Google processes data under its own terms and privacy documentation. We do not sell personal information or share your audio with advertisers. We may disclose information when legally required or to protect users, the service, or our rights.
Storage and retention
Cloud account, avatar thumbnail, pet profile, and recognition metadata are retained while your account is active. Raw audio stays on your device; optional AI review sends a clip to Google for processing but does not save it to PetVoice's Firestore. Google may retain or use submitted content according to its API terms. Local recordings remain on your device until you clear app data or uninstall. Account deletion removes your Firebase account and associated pet and recognition documents, with limited retention only where required by law or security obligations.
Your choices
You can correct your display name and avatar, revoke microphone permission in device settings, export profile and insight metadata as JSON, clear synced offline copies without deleting cloud data, and delete your account in Settings or request deletion at account deletion page.
Children
PetVoice is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We use Firebase security controls, authenticated user-scoped Firestore rules, and encrypted transport. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please protect access to your device and account.
